Steven R. Prout

Owner

Steven R. Prout is proud to represent the fourth generation of the Prout family’s commitment to compassionate care and community service. Born and raised in Verona, Steve grew up immersed in the values that define Prout Funeral Home: empathy, integrity, and a deep respect for the families they serve.

He graduated from the Delbarton School in Morristown, NJ, before earning his bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, he worked for the university’s baseball team and later went on to serve as part of the operations team for the Bourne Braves in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League in Massachusetts. Upon returning to New Jersey, Steve continued his career in athletics, working in media and communications for Rutgers University–Newark’s athletic department, where he filmed sporting events and helped shape their growing social media presence.

In [YEAR], Steve officially joined the family business at Prout Funeral Home in Verona, working alongside his sister Julia as the next generation to carry on the firm’s 100-year legacy. He is currently enrolled at the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City and serves as a Registered Intern and Funeral Service Assistant.

At the funeral home, Steve assists with services, helps behind the scenes, and supports day-to-day operations with dedication and care. He is not licensed and is not qualified to embalm, conduct arrangements, or direct funerals.

Friendly, dependable, and deeply committed to his community, Steve is honored to continue the family tradition of service at Prout and Dancy Funeral Homes as he completes his studies in funeral service.

"Where there is love there is life."
