Mr. Timothy Stephen Fox, 73, of Randolph, NJ, died on Saturday, September 26, 2026 in Denville.
Visiting will be held in the Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Avenue, Caldwell, from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, October 2. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Aloysius Church in Caldwell at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 3.
Born in Mount Holly and raised in Montclair, Mr. Fox graduated from Essex Catholic High School before attending Delaware Valley College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Agronomy.
After college, he returned to Montclair and worked in maintenance at St. Vincent’s Hospital. It was there that he met Barbara O’Neill, beginning a partnership that would span more than four decades. They were married on October 16, 1982 at St. Aloysius Church in Caldwell and made their first home together in Nutley. After also living in Hillsborough, they settled in Randolph 35 years ago, where they raised their family.
Mr. Fox worked for Bell Atlantic from 1985 until 2001 before beginning a second career as an IT professional with UnitedHealthcare in Basking Ridge. He remained there until his retirement in 2018.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Montclair and a man of many interests. An avid golfer, he was equally happy tending his garden, cooking a good meal, taking a walk or watching the birds. He enjoyed collecting bourbon and records, listening to music and playing pool. Whether on the golf course, at home in the garden or gathered with family, he appreciated the simple pleasures that filled his days.
Mr. Fox was predeceased by his parents, John and Marie Fox; his siblings, John Fox and Christine Fox; and his brothers-in-law, Mark McMahon and Paul O’Neill.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Barbara Fox; his cherished children, Patrick Fox and Kathryn Gilbert (Jacob); his siblings, Kathleen Harper, Michael Fox (Rosanna), Mary Anne Fox and Evelyn Wavrek (Steven); his in-laws, Jane Fox, Patricia McMahon, Kathleen O’Neill, Lisa O’Neill and Teresa King (John); and many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Morris Park Alliance would be appreciated, a fitting way to honor Tim by helping to keep some of his favorite fairways green.
Condolences and memories may be shared on his obituary page at dancyfuneralhome.com.
