Thelma Bauer Ippolito Obituary (1923 - 2023)

Thelma Ippolito Loving mother and grandmother Thelma Bauer Ippolito of Caldwell, NJ passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on December 9, 2023. Arrangements by Paul Ippolito - Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave, Caldwell. Family and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, Dec. 13th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Ave, Caldwell followed by the burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair. To send condolences to the family please visit, www.ippolitofuneralhomes.com. Thelma was one of eleven children born in Newark, NJ to Fire Captain Charles and homemaker Mary (Bannon) Bauer. After graduating Arts High School, Thelma went to work for Bell Telephone part time. In 1950 Thelma married and moved to Caldwell and had lived there since. She worked as a special education teacher for Essex County Vocational School and Bloomfield Tech., and in the summers as door manager at West Caldwell Community Pool for over 30 years. Thelma was very active in Caldwell's Saint Aloysius church, a den mother for boy scouts troop 6, working and arranging bingo, school events, pre Cana ; cleaning and arranging the church altar and held the positions of secretary ,treasurer and president of the St Aloysius Rosary Society. Thelma enjoyed attending her family's sporting and musical events; trips to the Jersey Shore, and a simple bag of potato chips and a good PBS television program. Loved and treasured by so many friends, students, co-workers and especially her family; Thelma's quick wit, call to duty , kindness ,love and unmatched good counsel will leave a big void for all who's lives she touched. Pre deceased by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters, Thelma leaves behind many nieces and nephews including, Carole, Billy, Bobby, Muriel ( Caruso); Brian, Ken, and her god daughter Bernadette Scolamiero Beloved mother of Paul Damian Ippolito and his wife Linda Ann and the late Brian Ippolito; Proud grandmother of Dr. Joseph A.
