Shelley Assenheimer Obituary (1952 - 2021)

Shelley Assenheimer (12/26/1952 to 8/3/2021) was born in Jersey City, NJ to James and Elizabeth West (nee Hayden). Kindhearted and young-at-heart, Shelley has left us too soon. A Lodi resident of over 30-years, Shelley was the last living member of her immediate family. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Carl Assenheimer (retired Captain with North Bergen Police Department); a sister, Pam Panagiotou and her brothers, James and Jackie West (both Vietnam Veterans with Jackie Killed in Action). She is survived by her brother-in-law, George Panagiotou of Lodi, sisters-in-law, Arlene West and Linda Port, stepdaughter Sandie Bonamo and her husband Dave, nieces and nephews, Patrick, Steven and George Panagiotou, Jr., John West and James West, Jr., Danilyn Damasco and Danielle Scaturro; step-grandchildren, David A. Bonamo and Francesca Bonamo, and grand nieces and nephews, Katie, Kelly, Kyle, Hayden and Ella Panagiotou. Shelley was employed by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 1262, for 40-years, where she fostered many lifelong friendships. Visitation will be at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, N.J. on Friday, August 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, Saturday August 7 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity or a kind gesture in Shelley's memory.
