Ruth Shirley Hager

Ruth Shirley Hager, 88, of West Orange, NJ passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024. She was born April 13, 1936 in Montclair, NJ.

A graveside service will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, 37 Thomas St., Caldwell, N.J., on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. under the direction of Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial in Caldwell, NJ.

Ruth was the daughter of Frederick and Lucille Hager. She was a lifelong resident of Essex Fells, NJ and a resident of West Orange, NJ since 2021.

Ruth was employed as a chemist at Organon in West Orange, NJ for 32 years.

She was photographer and traveled extensively to Mexico, Nova Scotia and the Canadian Rocky Mountains taking beautiful photos during her travels. She also proudly visited Bethlehem 10 times since 1973.

She was a devoted parishioner of The Crossing Church and First Baptist Church of Caldwell. She was well known for taking photographs of church events and coordinating media in the library.

She was an avid NY Mets fan and would always be proudly wearing her ball cap as she cheered on her favorite team.

Ruth is survived by nieces Amy West, Lisa Warburton and Elizabeth Coon and nephew Stephen West. In addition to her parents, Ruth is predeceased by her sisters Mabelle Beck and Frances Hager.
