Robert S. Perruso

Robert Perruso passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Bob was born in Orange, NJ and was the son of Eleanor (Battista) and Peter J. Perruso.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m.(Face masks and social distancing are required inside the funeral home and at the church. The funeral home will limit the amount of guest inside to 50 visitors at a time.) The Mass will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Orange, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 10 a.m., immediately followed by the interment at Rosedale Cemetery, Orange.

A kind and respected man, Bob and his late brother, Anthony established Perruso Bros. Inc. in the mid 1960's and were an integral part of the construction of Route 280 as a subcontractor for S.J. Groves Company. Following Anthony's passing, Bob assumed the Presidency of Perruso Bros., a position he held until his death. For over 40 years, he was also a member of IUOE Local 825B.

Bob loved his family, friends and classic automobiles. Bob enjoyed renewing older cars and took pride in the completed restorations. He generously supported many local organizations, schools and the Town of West Orange. Bob restored bicycles which he gifted to many of the neighborhood children. "Mr. Bob" was always ready to inflate a flat tire or make a repair on their bikes.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene (Bruno), cherished son, Robert, Jr.; brother, Ronald (Denise); brothers-in law, Frank (April) and John (Paula), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. He was predeceased by his parents, stepfather, Joseph Giuffredo and brother, Anthony.
