Mildred Dell'Italia passed away after a short illness on April 2, 2020, survived by husband Lou of 70 years. Mildred grew up in Montclair under the loving care of Lena Franciose and her immediate family. She attended Lacordaire High School in Upper Montclair and was a member of the basketball team. After graduation she was a member of the research group at Schering Corporation in Bloomfield. This small close knit group of doctors and research technicians made significant contributions to the discovery of the anti-inflammatory corticosteroid drugs such as prednisone, which are in wide use in human and animal medical practice throughout the world. To the end, Mildred had an analytical mind and curiosity that kept her abreast of the ever changing world around her. Mildred gave up her career path after marriage to her husband Lou on June 4, 1950 to raise her children Lou, John and Janet. She instilled in them a sense of family that they have carried into their individual lives. Ever involved in all of their activities and care, she had an unconditional love making their lives so fulfilled that they were able to achieve their goals in life. Her meatball and eggplant parmesan recipes were just a few items in her repertoire that are still passed on today. Whether simple family dinners or major holiday get-togethers under her direction, these were always the most enjoyable events in everyone's memory. She lived long enough to instill these values in the lives of her son-in-law Steve, daughter-in-law Patricia, and grandchildren Steve, Kimberly, Brian, Michelle, John, Jessica and Louie, in addition to great grandchildren William, Kendal, Luke, Luca, Hendrix, Zoey, and the newest addition Eva born the day before she passed on. We will miss you but always have you in our memory.
