Mildred P. Aulisi (nee Napolitano) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 11, 2025. Our family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband, Joseph, who was the love of her life.
Mildred was born in Newark, NJ, on June 7, 1929, to Fiore and Anna Napolitano. Upon graduation from Central High School, she became employed by Prudential Insurance Company. In 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, Joe, and together they raised six children in Belleville, NJ.
Mildred gave without expectation and loved unconditionally. 98 Tiona Avenue had a revolving door. Anyone who entered their house always had a home-cooked meal, followed by a freshly baked dessert. The laughter and stories told around the table are engraved in many hearts and memories.
After sending their six children through college, Mildred and Joe were finally able to enjoy their life as two. They spent their summers at their favorite place, the beach. They loved traveling to Cape Cod and making their way down to The Jersey Shore. In later years, Sea Girt became their "happy place," where they looked forward to many sunrises and sunsets together.
Mildred was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph E. Aulisi, her parents, Fiore and Anna (nee Riporti) Napolitano, her brother, Andrew Napolitano, and her brother-in-law, Vincent Aulisi.
Mildred is survived by her loving children, Donna Dyt (Peter), Ann Calabrese (Carlo), Flora Giaimo (Dennis), Barbara Sickles (Michael), Dr. Edward Aulisi (Gabriele), and Lisa Aulisi-Memmelaar (Peter). She is "Mema" to 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mildred is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lucille Napolitano and Erma Aulisi.
Visiting will be held in the Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Avenue, Caldwell, NJ on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Lucy's Roman Catholic Church, 118 7th Avenue, Newark, NJ at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 19. Entombment will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.
Donations can be made in Mildred's name to the YMCA of Montclair's youth financial assistance program, an organization that was near and dear to the Aulisi family.
