Mary Jane Ruvo (nee Petriella) Obituary (1940 - 2020)

Mother, Grandmother and Business Owner Mary Jane Ruvo (nee Petriella) of North Caldwell, N.J, and Hilton Head Island, S.C., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on April 21, 2020. She was 79 years old. Arrangements were handled by Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, Caldwell. Due to current circumstances, services were private. A memorial service will be held at a later date when it is safe for all to celebrate her life. Born in Newark, N.J., Mary Jane was the daughter of the late Frank and Edith Petriella (Strazza). She grew up in Bloomfield and Upper Montclair, N.J., attending Brookside Elementary School and graduating from Marylawn of the Oranges High School in 1958. In 1962, she graduated from Chestnut Hill College and thereafter married Anthony W. Ruvo. Together they raised three children in North Caldwell, N.J. Mary Jane along with her sister, Patricia Copeck, were the owners of Petriella Tile and Terrazzo in Bloomfield, N.J. Mary Jane was also very involved at Notre Dame Church in North Caldwell, serving as Eucharistic Minister, Catechist and RCIA instructor. Mary Jane was predeceased by her husband, Anthony, in 2015 and her grandson, Matthew. She is survived by her children, Kathryn and Kevin English, William and Elizabeth (Wilson) Ruvo and Michael and Helen (Krystalla) Ruvo; her grandchildren, who she adored, Anthony, Patrick, Max, Ben and Holly Ruvo; her sister, Patricia Copeck, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanne and Barry Murphy, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
