Marie Georgiew

Marie Georgiew (nee Asaro), 81, of Cedar Grove, N.J. passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, N.J., on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, Cedar Knolls, N.J., on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020 at 10 a.m., followed by an entombment at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, N.J.

Born in Eynon, Pa., Mrs. Georgiew was raised in Passaic and lived in Roseland for 20 years before moving to Cedar Grove many years ago.

She was employed as a secretary with Marsh & McLennan Insurance Co. in Roseland before retiring. Earlier, she worked as a medical secretary for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was a model while attending nursing school.

Mrs. Georgiew was the loving mother of Jennifer Palumbo and her husband, Leonardo, and Laura Good and her husband, Brian; wife of Ilco Georgiew; sister of Theresa D'Arienzo, Eleanor DiBiose, Sue Daidone and the late Fred, Frank and Tom Asaro. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Giuliana and Giovanni Palumbo, and Brian Robert and Ella Grace Good.
