Maria Chiaravallo

Maria Chiaravallo (nee Gauweiler) of Pine Brook, NJ passed away on October 19, 2023, at the age of 68.

Maria was born in Newark, NJ, before moving to Pine Brook where she remained a lifelong resident.

She was a graduate from Montville High School (Class of 1973) She then entered into the profession of bookkeeping for many years, before having children and becoming a stay at home mom. After losing her husband suddenly in the year 2000, she raised and supported her three children on her own. She was always active and volunteering for the schools, from PTA President to Room Mom, Band Mom to Music Booster President. She also led the Girl Scout troops for many years for her daughters.

Maria was the daughter of the late Otto and Josephine Gauweiler, the beloved wife of the late Albert Chiaravallo; loving mother of Christina Dyke (Brian), Michele Urban (Matt) and Matthew Chiaravallo (Judy); dear sister of Kathleen Eggers (Gary), Barbara Biasi (Joseph), Otto Gauweiler, John Gauweiler Joseph Gauweiler, and sister-in-law of Michael Chiaravallo; cherished grandmother of Alexander and Cooper Dyke and Benjamin, Christopher and Kaitlyn Urban; also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind her caregiver of almost 5 years, Patricia Palacios, who lovingly cared for her everyday until she passed. Her dedication to the family will never be forgotten and they will forever be grateful for the sacrifices she made for their family during this time.

Visitation will be held in Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, NJ on Monday, October 23rd from 4-8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held in St. Thomas More Church, Fairfield, NJ on Tuesday, October 24th at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
