Margaret Rose Walker (nee Pierson), 81, of Verona, N.J., formerly of Dumont, N.J. passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020, with her family by her side.
Services will be private under the direction of Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial in Caldwell.
Born and raised in New York City, Margaret Rose was a resident of Dumont, N.J. for 52 years before moving to Verona a year and a half ago.
She was the devoted wife of the late Vincent C. Walker and the loving mother of Michele (John) Wenzke, Edward (Victoria) Walker and Nicole (George) Harvilla. The bliss of her life was her grandchildren Sophia Rose Wenzke, Isabelle Grace Wenzke, Edward Vincent Walker, Emily Victoria Walker and Rex Walker Harvilla. They each affectionately knew her as Coco, a name given to her by Sophia when she was first learning to speak, which Margaret Rose immediately adopted and loved as her own. Coco loved attending all of her grandchildren's recitals, shows and plays.
In her passing, Margaret Rose has joined her sister Helen Rachel Pierson with whom she had a special bond, and her parents Dr. Herbert S. and Mary Alice Pierson. She is also survived by her twin brothers Herbert (Angela) Pierson and David (Merry) Pierson. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives that she was close to throughout her life.
Margaret Rose grew up on the Upper Westside of Manhattan and attended Marymount School of New York, for grammar and high school. She attended Tulane University where she met Vincent the love of her life. Vincent was a Graduate Assistant in Mathematics. They were married at St. Charles Cathedral in New Orleans. Margaret Rose became a Register Nurse and was employed by Englewood Hospital where she worked nights in the Psychiatric unit for more than thirty-five years before retiring 2010.
Margaret Rose and Vincent were very fond of dogs and rescued many over the years. They were known in Dumont as the Dog Walkers by many who had no idea that there last name was Walker.
Margaret Rose had many friends from all aspects of her life and to know her was to know of her profound faith in God and her belief that love conquers all. Her love conquered the hearts of all who knew her. While we all feel profound sorrow in her passing, as she would want, we celebrate her life.
