Luigi Petrillo

Mr. Luigi Petrillo, 92, died on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 in Newark, NJ.

Visiting will be held at the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, NJ 07044, on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 4 to 8 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28 at 10 AM in Saint Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.

Born and raised in Prata Principato Ultra, Avellino, Italy, Mr. Petrillo came to the United States in 1974 with his family. He and his beloved wife settled in Orange, NJ, where they were warmly welcomed by the community and became devoted parishioners of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He lived in Orange for 37 years before moving to West Orange to reside with his daughter, Angela.

Mr. Petrillo worked for the Livingston-based landscaping company Leonard Militello & Son, where he was known for his strong work ethic and pride in a job well done. A man who cherished the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, finding peace and contentment in nature. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mariannina Petrillo (nee Amaroso), his son, Paolo Petrillo, and his son-in-law. Leonardo Caputo.

He is survived by his devoted children, Domenica Minnuto (Vincenzo), Angela Monica (Generoso), Annamaria Caputo, and Giovanni Petrillo (Anna Maria); his cherished grandchildren, Maria Minnuto (Anthony), Vincenza Monica, Antonio Monica (Vittoria), Salvatore Minnuto, Gianpaolo Monica (Annamaria), Domenico Caputo, Antonio Caputo (Gabriella), Isabella Petrillo (Nicky), Gianpaolo Petrillo, Paul Caputo, and Angela La Franca; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Michele Cocozza, Paolo Cocozza, Andrea Cocozza, Valentina Monica, and Santino Monica.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) would be greatly appreciated.
