Louis O. Dell'Italia Obituary (1927 - 2021)

Louis Dell'Italia, who instilled in his family the values of white collar dreams with blue collar roots, passed away on April 18, 2021 one year after his beloved wife Mildred of 70 years. Lou grew up in Orange, N.J., under the loving care of Rosaria and John Dell'Italia and six siblings. He attended Orange High School where he graduated as President of his class with accolades from his classmates to his gregarious personality and leadership. He attended Upsala College before taking on leadership of the LaMayne Beauty Parlor on Main Street in West Orange, N.J. Over the 35 years of a highly successful business, Lou had an analytical business mind that was matched by care and devotion to the needs of his customers. Most importantly, his undying sense of loyalty was most appreciated by his children Lou, John and Janet. His leadership and work ethic instilled in them a sense of family and commitment that they have carried into their individual lives. Ever involved in all of their activities and care, he provided the real life guidance that set them on the right path to achieve their goals in life. His emphasis on education comes from being raised by Italian immigrants whose main goals were to achieve a respected assimilation into our great country. As with all who lived through the Great Depression and World War II, he taught his children to expect the worst and never give up to plan for the better. His witty sayings for every situation in life combines a humor and insight that brings a comic relief but yet a guiding light in difficult circumstances. Lou lived long enough to instill these values in the lives of his son-in-law, Steve; daughter-in-law, Patricia, and grandchildren, Steve, Kimberly, Brian, Michelle, John, Jessica and Louie, in addition to great-grandchildren, William, Kendal, Luke, Luca, Hendrix, Zoey, Eva and Vera.
