Katherine D. Pappas Obituary (1934 - 2018)

Katherine D. Pappas (nee Drogaris), 84, of West Caldwell, N.J., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, N.J., on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. with Trisagion Prayers at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Ss. Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 80 Laurel Ave., Roseland, N.J., on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 at 11 a.m., followed by the interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Pappas was a resident of West Caldwell for 58 years. Mrs. Pappas graduated from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia in Fredericksburg, Va., and worked in administration for the Township of West Caldwell in the Building, Planning and Zoning Department before retiring. A prominent and active member of Ss. Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, she was active in the Church's Youth of America Greek Orthodox Church (GOYA), and a longtime parent advisor. She was also a member of the Philoptochos Society and was honored as Mother of the Year. She was the devoted wife to the late George M. Pappas, with whom she walked hand-and-hand thru life inseparably for 53 years. Mrs. Pappas is survived by her loving sons, Michael Pappas, and Nick Pappas and his wife, Caitlin; dear sister, Toula Fotopoulos, and cherished grandchildren, George Michael, Zoe, George Mitchell, Julia and Paul.
