Joseph "Giuseppe" Ignozza Obituary (1928 - 2024)

Joseph Ignozza January 26, 1928 -- February 14, 2024 Joseph "Giuseppe" Ignozza of West Caldwell, NJ, 96, died peacefully at home in the care of his loving children. Visiting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave, Caldwell, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, Feb. 21st at 10:30 am at St. Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Ave, Caldwell followed by the entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ Joseph is survived by a son, Leonard (Alessandra) and a daughter, Phyllis "Filomena", as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Rocchina, nee Iatarola, and an infant son, Joseph. Joseph emigrated to the United States from Alberona, Foggia, Italy in late 1959, first settling in Orange, NJ, then moving to West Caldwell in 1974, to a home he built himself. Joseph was loved by his family and friends and respected professionally as a master mason. Joseph loved working with his hands, gardening, travel, music. Joseph was an avid reader who kept up with current events and culture both in Italy and the United States and was active in the Alberonese Social Club in Orange. He loved recounting stories from his youth in Italy, cooking, making wine, and spending time at the family home at the Jersey shore. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
