John F. Fazio

–

Essex Fells, NJ

John F. Fazio, of Essex Fells, N.J., passed away on Monday, Aug. 31, 2020. He was 85 years.

John Fazio was the epitome of a kind, thoughtful, humble and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, father-in-law, and friend. He found no fault nor had a disparaging word towards anyone. His main source of love and joy in life was his family. He asked for nothing more in life than to be surrounded by the people he loved, and those who loved him. He was a role model, and a man of respect who brought out the best in all of us.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be at St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell, on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 10:30 a.m., immediately followed by an entombment and military salute at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair.

(Masks and social distance must be practiced in the funeral home, church and at the cemetery at all times.)

Born and raised in Newark, his gentle nature and kind spirit were inspirational to all that knew him. His high school yearbook noted that he was "often seen, but seldom heard." That was John to a "T".

Mr. Fazio was a resident of Essex Fells for many years, an Army veteran and employed for 37 years with Loral Electronics/Lockheed Martin as an electronics engineer manager prior to his retirement.

They say the first man a girl falls in love with is her dad; that was true for his three daughters, who loved him so dearly and whom he showered with affection.

John was the beloved husband of 59 years to Silvana (nee Masci) Fazio; devoted father of three daughters Joanne (Neil Brandmaier), Marisa (Jack McGourty) and Rosanna (John Floyd), and cherished grandfather to Michael and Jason McGourty, Jillian Brandmaier, and Ava and Emma Floyd.

John's voice, laughter and kindred spirit will be missed. He loved everyone.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 3810 or at www.stjude.org would be appreciated.
