Janet Nevius

Janet Nevius (nee Dryden), 95, of Essex Fells, N.J., passed away on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021.

A private service will be held under the direction of Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, Caldwell, followed by a burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.

Born in Verona, Mrs. Nevius was a resident of Essex Fells most of her life.

She was employed as a banker with IBJ Schroeder Bank in New York City before retiring. Prior to that, she was an Interpreter with the US State Department, a French teacher at Montclair High School and a professor of Spanish at New York University.

A graduate of Barnard College, she earned her master's degree from Seton Hall University and Ph.D. from New York University.

Mrs. Nevius was a member of the Essex Fells Country Club and Metropolitan Club of New York City.

The beloved wife of 50 years to the late R. Foster Nevius, she was the loving mother of Janet Wylie and Carolyn Bjorling, and cherished grandmother of James A. and John J. Wylie.
