Dorothy Kurzyna

Dorothy Kurzyna (née Turri) entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. She was 93.

Born in Jersey City, Dorothy was raised in Harrison and graduated from Harrison High School in 1949, where she was voted girls’ class athlete. She married her husband, "Tony," in 1953 and together they settled in Kearny, where they raised their family and she remained as a long time resident. In later years, she moved to Montville to live with her devoted daughter, Lisa, and son-in-law Pat. She spent her final year at Alaris Health in Cedar Grove.

Dorothy‘s glory years were spent at Wallington Lanes where she bowled alongside her husband and also competed in many women’s leagues. Known as “Dot” to her bowling friends, she took great pride in her impressive average and skill on the lanes, while equally enjoying the camaraderie the sport brought to her.

One of her favorite past times was visiting Atlantic City, where she could often be found happily playing the slot machines at Harrahs. She also enjoyed dining at Tops Diner on Saturdays with her cousin, Virginia Bannon, a cherished tradition that lasted for many years.

Dorothy is survived by her loving daughters: Diane Kurzyna (Alan Reichman), Lisa Fayne (Pat), and Karen Aistars (Davis) and beloved grandchildren: Max Reichman, Joseph Reichman, Patrick Fayne (Bella), Colin Fayne, and Lily Aistars, plus cherished nephews and niece: Thomas McMyne (Ellen), Kevin McMyne (Geralyn), and Nancy Greb (Ray). She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Kurzyna, parents Ralph and Stella Turri, her brother Joseph Turri, and her sister, Jean McCormack.

Memorial visiting will be held at the Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Avenue, Caldwell, NJ 07006 on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 12 to 2 PM. A prayer service will be held at 1:45 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Autism Speaks (autismspeaks.org) in loving memory of Dorothy.
